Dining Out
It can be a challenge to eat out when you have Crohn's disease. One thing you can try to make it easier is knowing the menu.

Know the menu
Dining Out with Crohn's diseaseIf you're eating out, where will you be eating? Find out if there are items on the menu that you can eat. Many restaurants will have their menus online, and you can also call ahead and ask.

Check menus for steamed, baked, or broiled dishes. When in doubt about a restaurant's offerings, give them a call. If you don't think you'll be able to eat the food at the restaurant, plan on eating beforehand or seeing if you can arrange to go to a different restaurant.

For picnics, weddings, or other social events that you're not in charge of, ask the host about the menu. A friendly call to the host can often tell you about both the menu as well as where bathroom facilities will be located.

Note: these tips should not replace advice from your physician. Always check with your physician before making any changes to your eating habits.
